Trackchair Project

Thanks to generous donors and a grant from the Cooper Charitable Fund, the Friends were able to raise more than $16,000 for the purchase of a Trackchair from MIchigan Trackchairs.  On a beautiful autumn morning, Thursday October 10, 2024 we took possession of the Trackchair!

Bryan Wilkinson of Michigan Trackchair delivered it and gave the park staff and members of the Friends an orientation to some amazing features including the ability of a companion to manage the controls if the user is unable to do so.  It also has, dual-port USB charger, tilt-on-the-fly mechanism, cushioned arm rests, fixed footrest (adjustable for height), rear stability wheels, lap seatbelt, and independent flip-up arms plus a shelf on the back for a cooler!

The park's trackchair is available to borrow in 4-hour slots (one reservation per day), so there's ample time to clean, maintain and recharge between reservations. To make an advance reservation (24-hour notice is preferred), please call 989-362-5041. The chair will be available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. A short training session will be provided to ensure safe and comfortable operation. It can be used throughout the park campground, day-use area including the beach, and down the main two track that leads to the end of the Tawas Point.
